Pre Wedding Photoshoot Winnipeg

Real photos, before the biggest weeks of your life.

A pre wedding shoot should feel like your own time. Not a rehearsal, not a formality. Just the two of you, somewhere worth photographing, with a photographer who's watching for real moments instead of manufacturing them.

I'm Cody Goetz, a Winnipeg wedding photographer. I've been shooting since 2010, and in 2024 I was named Canadian Wedding Photographer of the Year. I've photographed pre wedding sessions in traditional outfits and casual ones, in the middle of the city and out on the open edges of it, and the approach is always the same: show up, pay attention, stay out of the way.

THE SESSION

What a session looks like

We spend an hour to an hour and a half together at a location that means something to you, or one that's just genuinely beautiful. No shot list, no posing guide. You show up, and I take care of the rest.

Most couples settle in faster than they expect. By the end of the session, the camera starts to disappear, and that's when the best photos happen.

Your wedding week is going to move fast. A pre wedding shoot gives you something the wedding itself rarely has: time that's just yours, with photos to match.

WHERE WE SHOOT

Locations in Winnipeg

Winnipeg has more going for it than most people give it credit for. The Forks, The Exchange District, Assiniboine Park, the riverbanks along the Red and Assiniboine, open fields just outside the city. I know these spots well and I'm happy to recommend something based on what you're picturing for your pre wedding shoot in Winnipeg. If you want a sense of what's out there, I put together a guide to session locations in Winnipeg.

If you already have a location in mind, bring it. I'd rather shoot somewhere that means something to you than somewhere that just photographs well.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

How this fits with your wedding

Some couples book a pre wedding shoot on its own. Others add it as part of their wedding package, the same way I include a Love Story session for couples who book me for their wedding.

Either way, the experience is the same. One photographer, no pressure, real photos.

If you're booking me for your wedding and want to add a session beforehand, get in touch and we can work out the timing. If you're looking for a pre wedding shoot on its own, I'd love to hear about what you have in mind.
